When we purchased our land in Waterford in 2004, we knew we had to find a builder that we could trust and would be able to accommodate our every need. That is when we came across Barry Rhodes of Going Vertical Inc. We were still living in NY at the time construction was started, so we knew we had to have a builder that was honest and trustworthy, as we were not able to be here to see the actual construction process at the beginning.

From the day we first interviewed Barry, along with three other builders, Barry was the only one who took us for a tour of one of his homes under construction at the time. He pointed out what he does as opposed to what other builders do as far as types of beams, plumbing, electrical, brickwork, etc. From that day on, we knew we found the builder we could feel comfortable with and offer us some great ideas on the building process, as we had not been in this process before. The one thing I most like about Barry is his sense of what works and what doesn't. We would tell him what we wanted and he would explain that he could do that, but we would have problems down the road, and instead offered his professional opinion as a solution that we would all agree upon. Most other builders would do whatever the homeowner wanted and then let them worry about it when a problem arises, as they would be nowhere to be found.

Barry delivered everything he promised in his contract. There was never a question or concern about his billing process, or his sub-contractors. He was truly a professional in every way. Of course, it's a new home and there will always be small issues to be worked out once you move in. The times I needed Barry to repair something, he was there immediately without a second phone call.

When we are ready to build our next home and the home after that, the sign out front will be proudly displayed. Custom built by Going Vertical Inc.

Building a new home is such a daunting project. Doing it from 600 miles away makes it that much more difficult. The process of finding and selecting a builder when you live in a different state becomes even more of a challenge. We asked Barry Rhodes from Going Vertical to meet with us several summers ago while we were on vacation in Carolina Beach. At that point we were not in a position to sign a contract with him, or anyone. We still had a house to sell in New Jersey, but we wanted to learn more about the process of building a custom home.

Barry spent several hours with us that summer afternoon and answered all the questions we asked and many more that we didn't think to ask! He left us that afternoon an

d we knew that he was the contractor we wanted to build our new home. We kept in touch with him and in the fall of 2007 we broke ground on our new project.

Barry has delivered on all the expectations he set for us back in Carolina Beach. Not only does he effectively manage the entire construction project and his subcontractors, but he is always in touch with us, keeping us updated on the daily construction progress, regularly sending pictures and patiently addressing our concerns and questions. The attention he paid to us over these months has made a stressful process so much easier to get through.

We are nearing the end of our project and I can whole-heartedly recommend Barry Rhodes and Going Vertical. When you contract with Going Vertical you get more than just the knowledge of a construction professional; you get the personal attention from Barry Rhodes. His attention to detail and his responsiveness coupled with his expertise, insight and talent is a combination that is truly hard to beat.
